THE SEVENTH IMAM - AL-KISA’I

Line 39

وَأَمَّا عَلِيٌّ فَالْكِسَائِيُّ نَعْتُهُ

لِمَا كانَ في الْإِحْرَامِ فِيهِ تَسَرْبَلاَ

The seventh Imam, which is the third of the Imams of Kufa is al-Kisa’i.

He was nicknamed Kisa’i because it is said that his Ihram for going to Makkah was a bag (Kis). His name is ‘Ali bin Hamzah bin Abdullah Al-Asadi. His Kunya was Abu al-Hasan. He was the Imam of Recitation in Kufa after Imam Hamza.

Line 40

رَوَى لَيْثُهُمْ عَنْهُ أَبُو الْحَارِثِ الرِّضاَ

وَحَفْصٌ هُوَ الدُّورِيُّ وَفيِ الذِّكْرِ قَدْ خَلاَ

Al-Kisa’i

Al-Kisa'i’s first narrator is Al-Layth. He is Al-Layth bin Khalid Al-Bahgdadi. His Kunya is Abu Al-Harith. He was a thiqa, skillful and proficient and one of the principals or leaders of Qira. He passed away in 240 Hijri.

Al-Duri

The second narrator is Al-Duri. His name is Hfs bin ‘Am al-Duriand he is the same Imam that narrates the recitation of Abu 'Amr Al-Basri.
