وَأَمَّا الإْمَامُ المَازِنِيُّ صَرِيحُهُمْ
أَبُو عَمْرٍو الْبَصْرِي فَوَالِدُهُ الْعَلاَ
The third imam is Abu 'Amr Al-Basri Al-Mazini. He is Abu 'Amr bin al-'Ula al-Basri al-Mazini from the tribe of Mazin, the son of Malik, the son of 'Amr, the son of Tamim, the son of Murr.
Imam Shatibi uses ( المَازِنِيُّ ) meaning Imam Abu 'Amr was from the tribe Bani Mazini.
He was born in 68 Hijri. He read in Basra, Kufa, Makkah and Madina.
He had the most teachers out of all the seven reciters including Abdullah Ibn Kathir. He also heard Anas bin Malik. He passed away in Kufa in 154 Hijri.
Anas bin Malik
Narrated Khalaf ibn Qasim, narrated al-Hasan ibn Rushayq, narrated Ad-Duwalabi, narrated Muhammad ibn Mansur and Ibrahim ibn Sa'd Al-Jawharei who said: narrated Sufyan from 'Uyayna az-Zuhri from Anas who said: "When the Prophet (saw) came to Madina I was ten years old and when he died I was twenty years old."
Muhammad ibn Sa'd said: "I asked Muhammad ibn 'Abdullah Al-Ansari: "How old was Anas ibn Malik when he died?" and he said; "He was One-Hundred and seven years old."
أَفَاضَ عَلَى يَحْيَى الْيَزيدِيِّ سَيْبَهُ
فَأَصْبَحَ بِالْعَذْبِ الْفُرَاتِ مُعَلَّلاَ
The two who narrate his recitation are Abu 'Amr al-Duri and Shu'ayb al-Susi.
Ad-Duri
His name is Hafs bin 'Umar Ibn Abd al-'Aziz and his Kunya was Abi 'Amr. He was born in 150 Hijri in Daur, a place close to Baghdad. He passed away in 246 Hijri.
As-Susi
The second of this branch is As-Susi. His hame is Salih bin Ziyad As-Susi.
Al-Shatibi says ( يَحْيَى الْيَزيدِيِّ ) – meaning that both Duri and Susi took the recitation from Yahya al-Yazidi from Abu 'Amr al-Basri.
It is important to note that Duri and Susi did not take their recitation directly from 'Abu 'Amr. Both Ad-Duri and As-Susi took the recitation of Abu 'Amr from Imam Yahya Al-Yazidi, who learned directly from Imam Abi 'Amr.
